Adults

It’s never too late to learn an instrument, and if you’ve always dreamed of playing the violin, I can help you get there. Previous music experience not required.

K-12 Students

Students as young as 3-4 years old can start learning to play the violin, and I’m happy to get your child started. We play lots of games and try to have as much fun as possible.

I also enjoy teaching intermediate and advanced middle school and high school students, and can help them prep for any auditions whether for local groups or schools, or for festivals and college.

What others are saying:

“Sarah has a teaching style that has suited my current and former students well; she was able to help take some of my students when I was on maternity leave, and my students showed positive growth and drive upon their return to my studio.”

What you will need to get started

click here to see a list of local instrument shops that rent violins and accessories*

  • Appropriately sized violin and bow

  • bow rosin

  • shoulder rest or pad

  • extra set of strings

  • Metronome with tuning capability

  • music stand

  • Instrument cleaning cloth

* I highly recommend NOT purchasing a violin online from sellers such as Amazon. The instruments are rarely in playable condition, and you will spend much more on repairs than you purchased it for. Many of the companies in the link above have rent-to-own programs with maintenance plans included. This is a much safer route to go, and your learning will also not be hindered by a bad instrument.
